Advice on storing your meat
Updated: May 27, 2020
Your meat will be delivered in a refrigerated van [temperature 3°C/5°C]
Place your meat into the fridge as soon as you receive your delivery.
Check the USE BY DATE and place the meat in the bottom shelf of the fridge
The meat is fresh therefore ok to freeze before the USE BY DATE.
We advice to use the meat within 6 months of freezing to keep it at its optimum quality.
You need to make sure your fridge is running between 3ºC and 5ºC.
Store raw meat and poultry in clean containers on the bottom shelf of the fridge.
When you have cooked the meat and you're not going to eat it straight away, cool it as quickly as possible and then put it in the fridge or freezer. This should be within one to one & half hours.
Recommend temperatures of a domestic freezer is (-18°C)
Defrost meat thoroughly before cooking – lots of liquid will come out as meat thaws, so stand it in a bowl to stop bacteria in the liquid spreading to other things
Make sure meat is properly wrapped in the freezer or it might get freezer burn, which can make it tough and inedible.
We recommend you Date and label meat in the freezer and eat it within 24 hours of defrosting.
Do not worry if it's frozen for longer – try marinating it before cooking to improve texture or use herbs and spices to add flavour.
